Minor in Criminology
Criminology is the study of the causes, prevention and treatment of criminal behavior, and the social and environmental factors associated with crime in society. The Minor in Criminology is designed to introduce students to the study of crime, criminal behavior, and societal responses to both. Drawing on interdisciplinary approaches, the program explores theories of crime causation, patterns of offending, and the impact of crime on communities.
The Criminology Minor enhances majors in a variety of disciplines, such as sociology, psychology, political science, and social work, by equipping students with analytical and research skills relevant to social science careers and advanced graduate studies. The minor is ideal for students interested in public policy, research, or advocacy roles related to crime and justice.
