All students complete the Public Health Core 21 hours and one concentration. Any student who does not fully complete UT Health Accelerated MPH courses or StMU Health Care Compliance Law courses will enroll in “generalist” track public health courses to fulfill degree completion credit requirements.
- 2
The Public Health core hours (CPH1301, 2301, 3301, 4301, statistics course, and methods course) must be completed before courses for a concentration/track can be begun.
- 3
NU courses (NU4403, NU3201, NU3203, NU 3301) can count in the same way as the required Public Health courses: as part of the core courses (CPH1301, CPH4301, CPH4390), within select tracks for informatics (CPH3357) and generalist courses, and as part of the certificate.
- 4
NU courses are restricted to Nursing students. Only declared or former Nursing majors can apply Nursing courses to the Public Health certificate and/or degree. This includes NU3201, NU 3202, NU3301, NU4403.
- 5
Approved Research Methods courses enable students to conduct research and convey results in written form aligned with CEPH standards including knowledge of concepts and applications of basic statistics and basic concepts, methods, and tools of data collection, use, and analysis. In addition, skills such as efficiently reading and
understanding research articles learned in statistics and research methods courses will be useful in the larger public health curriculum.
